Breaking Glass
By Temerity
A girl in checkered gingham,
Cast as awkward and shy,
Gazed at the looking glass,
Remembering days gone by.
What became of Wonderland?
Where is her King of Hearts?
What to do with the memories,
Just before the panic starts?
Eyes of lamentation,
Silently scream of pain.
The Cheshire Cats still fading,
Their haunting grins remain.
Days of mis-adventure,
The perils and the thrills,
The beast beyond the looking glass
Eats the things it kills
Safe, this side of the mirror,
Time just seems to pass
To a girl gone mad as a hatter,
Afraid to break the glass.

I loved the brilliant tight form of this piece but most of all the way you didn't let that constrict the language, flow and fantastic Alice In Wonderland-influenced imagery used to convey your brilliant message. Bloomin' brilliant!!

I loved the theme, and the way it flowed, it just rolled on. A touching piece, and teh wording you used to achieve this mental image. Mm. I love it.
