Gods on the Street Corner

By Rebel_not_Radical

Here in our palms is the essence of ambrosia
Sun-dried and golden like the sunsets
Maybe for others, stains of week old coffee

Grown from the earth which will eventually envelop us all
We take it in as the chain which binds us all dictates
We roll it into the precious papyrus of pleasure
All the while we drink gin and lose our sobriety
Just like how we lost our virginity
We anticipate euphoria as the father to his newborn child

Lighting it up now
Dancing flames titter on the edge
They move their hips tempting and seducing
Embers come to life as yours begin to dissipate
There is no turning back
Maybe there will be no place to turn back to anyway
But we became Gods on our street corner...

We learn how to fly again as we raise our arms
To praise only the cosmic creations above
We infuse ourselves with the answers to life
Amidst the haziness and non-sense that shrouds
We leave our mortality like pain leaves the body
As we are invulnerable we see our weaknesses
Epiphainies shower in aurora borealis
We melted millions of brain cells
But We became Gods on our street corner...

Like all good things though
This shit has to end
Like gods they too will die eventually
Easy come easy go
But I will never forget
The days we became gods on the street corner...

Reminds me of belonging...of walking into a place where everyone knows you and you feel like a king and click your fingers and do a little dance move...and life just melts away and becomes so easy carefree...
