Torn by Strings

By A Burning God

Family life has become difficult to bear,
Especially when the mother treats the first born son as her husband
And the father treats the son like a puppet, held aloft on strings,
Except that the father forgets one thing.
He forgets that the son is trying to resist the effects of the strings.
A brother who thinks that he is the smartest of the family,
Telling the older that he is a moron,
A sister who is arrogant, who hates listening to the advice from the first born,
Who also despises what the first born has become.
His only savior is drumming. It removes the thoughts of what his family does to him.
Removing the thoughts about his arrogant sister who nags him like his mother,
From his brother, who treats him like a fool, and love to brag about his “intelligence”
From his mother, who thinks that her son is, in her mind, her husband
From the father, who treats him like his little puppet,
From “friends,” who treat him like an imbecile for what he does to not think about his “family”
From co-workers, who also don’t truly understand the son,
Only to take the thoughts back once he stops drumming.
Yet, he must face them every day.
Now, friends, do you understand why the son hates being around the family who treats him with such disgrace?
Why he doesn’t like to be in relationships, and if he is in one, is so reluctant to do so?
Why, when he does have a relationship, really appreciate being with that other person?
Why he loves being antisocial, even if it’s “not beneficial to himself?”
He likes to say that his family is “The master of puppets is pulling his strings.”
He feels that his family is tearing himself with their strings of influence
(Note to my “family”)
