The Melody
By GirlintheBox
She holds onto his life with her melody
Sweetly singing her pain to the sky
Trying to seek out Utopia
As her river of tears flow by
"Listen to the wind as it whispers your name
And speak what you want me to hear
For in Life or in Death it becomes all the same
And forever you'll hold our love near"
Her song hard on her heart but soft on her ears
She mourns her love as she stands at his grave
Trying to scope out the happiness
That in life he unselfishly gave
But unable to shake off the rambles and thorns
She's abandoned her dreams on a wall
While trying to keep lit her candle
And prepare for the inevitable fall
"Send your pain down your river of tears
And I'll hold it with me for all time
Till the day makes its way when you join me here
And no more for our love shall you pine"
She listens and ponders the storm and the strife
Her fragile body is ready to break
The burden she's bearing is too great to grasp
And the nightmare too real to awake
"Let go of your worries and take down your dreams
Let your melodies show you the way
Don't let your heart rip apart at the seams
For again you shall see me one day"
The thunder too loud as the storm still grows stronger
She's caught in the torrents of fire and rain
Her melody's drowned and she can sing no longer
Her voice washed away in a current of pain
Her silent screams deafen all her thoughts
And the tears choke what she needs to say
Her despair so strong she can no longer breathe
So with her love she'll forever lay
She's found her Utopia

View a Random Work - it takes hard work and a bit more talent than one can realize to make a rhyming, structured poem not sound forced. Kudos, and cheers to finding someone eyes after 3 years of hiatus.

the feeling this created was such a soft infusing sadness, like the most grey day with heavy mist and it read easily with a classic flow and feel..nicely done indeed

I don't know what about this stands out to me, but I like it. This has put me in a softer, deepening mood. ~T~
