An Unfortunate Encounter with the Train

By antiScripsony

I am not a part of your lovesong
I will not sit on your chair
I will not be part of your celebration
I don't understand why I do the work
Or why it makes me the jerk
And I'm not a part of your lovesong
And I'm not a part of your lovesong

I am not in love with your party
I've never much liked your pets
They bite and scratch me
They never like when I touch them
I never want to see them again
I never want to see them again

I am not the one who comes along
I am the boy, I am the girl
I should be allowed to have a bad day
I am not the one you meet on the subway
I am the one who sits at the station
I am the one who sits at the station

A train derailed into my mailbox
I'm having trouble making out letters
From this flaming metal wreckage and
The flames are hot enough that everything is bending
A train derailed into my mailbox
The letters are drifting into each other
The wheels are lighting up the night
The letters are drifting into each other
And the two flats seem so bright

We were on the train the other day
You were nervous
So I thought of someone else
Next week I hope the plates drift
Just a little bit
I'm not happy that I could just end it
I'm not happy that nobody gets it
I'm not happy oh no you didn't just say that
I'm not happy you didn't do what I think you did
I'm not happy that I have to check myself
I'm not happy that I'm not on cruise control
I wish that I were on top of a car
As I'm falling off it sideways
As it turns when the freeway goes around the church

A train derailed into my mailbox
I'm having trouble making out letters
From this flaming metal wreckage and
The flames are hot enough that everything is bending
A train derailed into my mailbox
The letters are drifting into each other
The wheels are lighting up the night
The letters are drifting into each other
And the two flats seem so bright

I'm so tired of being a bitch
I'm so tired of trying so so hard
And I never knew that you resent me so much
And I'm so sick of avoiding the issue

A train derailed into my mailbox
I'm having trouble making out letters
From this flaming metal wreckage and
The flames are hot enough that everything is bending
A train derailed into my mailbox
The letters are drifting into each other
The wheels are lighting up the night
The letters are drifting into each other
And the two flats seem so bright

But while we're waiting at the station
For the train that will never come
I wish I had your scarf and skirt
And I wish I had your admiration again.

mechanical repetition ... steady as she goes , but not so steady at all ... trainwreck , carcrash ... wreckage careening off the path laid steady as she goes ... steady as ....

it's hard to write on a train , it's hard to write on a moving car ... this is amazing work ... tuned metal on metal reality ... funguy

Tasty...I could hear it being sung into my ear. The last line is not what I expected, and a shot to the gut...simply great read.

Your style is very distinctive, and this piece is a fantastic example of your works. wonderful reflections; i love the feelings this evokes, and the way you bring tangible tangents to the (not.so) everyday. lovely.
