Grains of Sand

By PaperPromises

I don't get how I can come so far
And yet lose so much
I knew life was hard
But I didn't think it'd be this rough.

Struggles and tears
Confusion and frustration
Lies and fears
Crushed expectations.

Everything I held slipped right through my fingers
Like the tiniest grains of sand
I watched only a second's worth of linger
Before it slid through my hands.

Unable to control my concentration
Mixed-up inside with numbness and pain
Pondering how to end this situation
Looking to the skies to bring on the rain.

I can't see a thing through these clouded eyes
Everything seems materialistic and unreal
Nothing truly geniune to visualize
Stuck in deep wounds that won't heal.

I have felt myself trapped in this cycle on more than one occasion. It is difficult to dig through the plasticity to get to the real and frustrating when your heart and mind cannot find what it craves. Interesting read hope you find what you are seeking.
