?-Vox populi est vox Dei-?

By anathema

they
keep chanting
keep waving tracts
keep preaching
their
prejudice
their hate
and they try to explain
how
it is
that they are
the sacred ones
the blessed ones
and only they
have the key
to my salvation
that theirs
is the only truth
on their lips only
is the word
of
heaven

in reply
i step away
from their dogma
i know
there's got to be more to this
than printed pages
and halfhearted psalms
and sunday
confessions

clutching my head
i
scream

and it is
like
the voice
of god
of
gods
now buried under layers
of hot sand
the old deities
hidden away
under churches
they rise
they rise
spirits
and more
spiritual
than i have known

i close my eyes tight
to what
i shouldn't see
my eyes
are
pried
open
and i see
beyond
the common state
of mind....

i see
that god
is in everything
i see
gods
are
everything
and that
the voice
of
this grand scheme
is not
spoken
through human mouths
we can only gasp for air
maybe
the understanding
of something bigger
brighter
than all this
is not really
grasped
by minds
but by
hearts

rather than comprehend
i feel

and i laugh
at those
who try to box
religion
into a house
a white
church
on a hill
for they
will be
so limited
in how they can
believe

i open my arms
to the sky
and breathe

and somehow
this is not
blasphemy
but beautiful
truth

and when
i kiss you
and when
you wrap me in your arms
i feel
like i am closer
to
heaven
than earth
i find my salvation
in your eyes
your lips
your heart

and i know
i know

god is
me

and i
am
god

and you
you too
are god

we are all
gods

the pulsation
of life
of humanity
is
god

and we are all
lost souls
searching
for a higher purpose

and i wonder
when
we all realize
to stop thinking
about god
and just
be
it

if we
will no longer
feel
lost

but feel
at last
redeemed

the voice
of god
i realize
is more than a voice

it is
the
beat
the rhythm
of heartbeats
and the smell
of earth
on our fingertips
and it is
the whirr
of machinery

i realize
the melody
of life
is
god

and suddenly
i feel
at
peace

This is a great read. Normally I don't go for the super long poems, but this one didnt seem to drag on as most of the others ones that I have read. Great write ~*~Tart~*~
