What's Your Sign?

I ask her as we sit by
The edge of the lake,
Watching the sun slowly set
Behind the trees.

She smiles at me and plays
With her hair as she thinks
Of a reply.
"What is YOUR sign?"

"Libra," I tell her before leaning
In to kiss her cheek, which
Warms instantly under my lips.
"So cute blushing like that."

She leans close to me now,
Her lips brushing against my ear
Enough to send shivers through
My body.

"I'm a Scorpio," she whispers
Before kissing me on the lips.
I wrap my arms around her
And close my eyes.

I open them back up and pull
Away from her, staring at
A lone, distant tree.
"I think I saw something over there."

She turns around and looks at the
Tree as well as I reach into
My pants pocket and pull out...
"I don't see anything. Are you sure?"

She turns back around and spots
What is in my hand, her eyes growing
Wide.
"Wh...why do you have that?"

I smile as I flap the wrapped condom
Around like a packet of ketchup.
"Can never be too safe to carry protection."
She blushes hard in the fading light.

We kiss again, this time out hands
Grabbing at each other, trying to
Pull clothes off of one another
In the heat of the moment.

SNAP

We stop and look around, spotting
A tall figure in black with what
Looks like a black cloth bag
Over their head.

"Oh, sorry, we didn't think anyone
Was here. We're uh...we're gonna
Go now. We're so sorry."
I say to approaching figure.

Before we can stand up, the figure
Pulled out a pistol and points
It at me then to her, firing
Multiple rounds into her back.

My body freezes in fear, shock, rage
And even more fear.
I feel a warming sensation run
Down my legs as my bladder empties.

"Pl-please, don't shoot me!
I don't even know who you are!"
I stare at the stitched cross with
A circle around it on the forehead.
