Poet Death

By Loneal

Breeze gently blowing, as she walked out the door
Rain, rough and rugged, falls loudly once more
Muddied and tired, she slogs through the mud
With her clothes on her back and her past left behind
Tattered and tired as dusk creeps on in
The sky keeps on falling and coldness begins
She peers through the murk, in search of some peace
From the rain and the fear that hunts her.
It's off to the side, so far from the road
That she finds a lone house, abandoned and old
She walks towards the house, shivering cold
Trailed by a cat, she approaches the door.
Slipping within, locking hounds of fear out
She turns around, and glances about
Heavenward climb up a rickety stair.
And she trembles in cold in a room.
Alone and afraid, she climbs into bed
To fall prey to visions of dying, instead
To struggle and scream, silent in dream
Then to waken, so sudden, in light.
Quickly fleeing from those haunted walls
She races away into Nature's halls
Where in bright shining sun
With the day just begun
She meets her Poet Death.
