The Fault of The Phoenix

By Brandon

As eyes greet a new day,
I still don the same cloak of flesh
Breathing gradually increases
As I ready for the onslaught.
Careless spirits dance around my cage
Loving spirits feed upon my rage.
When the light leaves my eyes,
And my name salvation cries
You'll find me footloose and dangling
I wont apologize for seeking a better life
This time i wont rise
Gaze upon my ashes stowed inside the urn
Perhaps next time I'll have a better turn
This time I wont rise again.
I am unlike the phoenix
These ashes no longer serve as a womb
These ashes have become my eternal tomb.
Enlighten me on my destination
For life hath led only hesitation.

Very well written and it had a strong start. I especially liked the title, that's what drew me in. All in all a good piece. Write on.
