Walpurgisnacht

By Commander_Cadaver

The night the veil is thinnest
Between the living world and Hell.
Five black candles lit,
Sitting at the five points of the Pentagram.
Made of ash of a fatal fire,
The Pentagram lays on the floor,
The sigil of Orobas, glaring in the middle
Of the five point star,
Drawn in the blood of a lamb.
Sulphur incense lit, the room
Smelling like the flames of the
Deepest pits of Hell.
Shadows dancing along the walls
As the flames of the candles
Flicker to and fro.
I stand at the southern point
Of the Pentagram and hold
In my hands a knife with a black
Handle.
I turn to the east, "In the name of Lucifer."
The south, "In the name of Astaroth."
The west, "In the name of Beelzebub."
The north, "And in the name of Lilith.
I call upon the names that hold power
Over all of Hell on this night where
We are closer together than before.
With the ash of a fire and the blood
Of a lamb, I summon forth the demons
And ask for the blood of the innocent."
I place the blade against my arm
And slice my flesh deep, blood
Pouring onto the Pentagram.
"With my blood and the sulphur,
I give to thee offerings to walk upon
This plain of existence. "
I let the blood spill onto the five points
And mix into the blood of the lamb.
"Accept these offerings and come forth."
The flames of the candles all go out
At once, leaving the room dark
And cold.
With the sounds of laughter and
Screams of torment, the flames
Flick back to life.
I kneel down and place the tip
Of the blade against my forehead.
"By the conquering worm that hath
Swallowed the sun, be their power
Mighty amongst us!
Ave Luciferi!"

The presence felt real. Too real. Like a night ritual in the Bohemian Grove. Great write!

I stood in the shadows and watched your candle's flames, rise and fall for the wicked as you chanted in their names. They smiled wide their demon grins for their faithful follower allows them to enter in. Darkly it is written by your blood. :)~

this conjures the cloak of darkness upon the devils and witches that practice this holiday. ritual is how its done, you did it well my friend. lol...I first learned of walpurg from anton lavey but then also came across many sects of witches that celebrate as well. I really love the pace you set in this poem, its a walk through right into this ritual. I could feel the evil radiate off your blade. nicely done cadaver!

Yeah, witches and Pagans celebrate it for different reasons though. Think it their beliefs have something to do with the spring. Can't remember. But glad you liked it and thanks for reading.

I actually really enjoyed this, though may I ask why is Lilith to the North? I thought femininity was to the East or South? I'm a bit rusty on my rituals, as well.
