distant voices {w.blue angel}
By FadedBlues
another meal is served, & I force it down.
it'll do,
I guess. but I long for the country fried chicken on
Sundays after services, & the woman who served it
to me, then kissed me gentle on the cheek.
Meekly, I flip the hourglass and helplessly
watch the sands
of time slip through the narrow path design. He has left me
here to figure out life's vague, vicious riddles and all those sins
just taunt and drag their dirty little hands across my skin.
I figured I'd always be with her in that little
white
house, wake up with her to a sunny dawn each day.
but sometimes a man strays from the heavenly path,
and if you do your sins, you got your penance to pay.
The silence of this house is deafening today
driving me further into the dark corners of madness.
His voice still methodically dances through my mind with
all those shattering little lies that I choose to harbor.
looking out my prison bars tonight, I see that
big cream pie
moon. she watches it too, & I can touch her like there is no
space between us. sweet memories flood, & so do the tears.
but it don't matter..that moon & I ain't goin' nowhere.
And so in faith, I remain in wait, keeping
the home fires ablaze with
my torn dreams and tattered gown I'll smile and play the clown. As I
watch a burned out star lose it's place in the sky tonight, I swallow
my pride, and bite into my pain knowing to him this heart is forever chained.

Tremendous slice of life and the realism was totally captivating. Reminds me a bit of Johnny Cash's "Sunday Morning Coming Down", written by Kris Kristofferson as I recall, cheers guys!
