One night I watched as the sky bled
Midnight blue mélange with ruby red
The stars blazed in a crimson sphere
And the moon hid with poignant fear
That night I saw the cracks in concrete bleed
Quivering my soul, questioning my creed
The gashes on the ground opened wide
Contemptuous wind shrieked and cried
From the scarlet trenches came the nightmare king
Unhallowed man with ebony wings
His mutilated beauty left me weak
And that’s when the fallen angel began to speak
He asked me with omnipotent grace
Why I lived in this mortal place
My answer, whispered through lips as white as snow
“Though I wish I could say, I really don’t know”
Thunderous laughter echoed through the murderous night
Echoed with vigor and echoed with spite
He asked me to follow him into fiery ground
Riding upon his aberrant blood hound
Timidly staring into his hollow eyes
I asked why going with him was wise
Voice dripping from a tone filled with snide
With an arrogant air he replied
Hell and earth are not as different as humans believe
Both realms filled with souls who do deceive
Despondent beings who relish in pain
Walking around in utter disdain
Look around fledgling what do you see?
Even the leaves weep on every tree
They stare at the ground, not knowing their worth
Even though they’re important to this earth
Hell isn't a place it is a state of being
A perspective of life, a way of seeing
My hell is different than your hell dear
But that does not mean it is any less severe
I wish for you to travel to the land beneath this
So all your doubts you can dismiss
I ask you to come so you can finally tell
Which is worse
Earth or Hell
