Linoleum

By Poe Etiquette

 Spring cleaning
So he peels back the fibers of
Poly-nylon
Stained by cocoa and
Old Year’s wine

Shreds and tears that
Feel like the spiral spine of
Notebook back wiring
And stirred from hibernation
Pollen that layered his lungs
In a liquid cellophane film
Repressing respiration to
The flutter of a butterfly

Fingers that felt pasty yellow
Gripping past rust and rot
Making her a present
New foundation
Linoleum in March
It’s easy to keep clean

I'm sure she'll love it and gotta start with a good foundation, cheers! I remember linoleum on my grandmother's kitchen floor, and then again in my first bachelor's pad, cracked and bumpy.
