Happy New Years!

By Nameless Pariah

Another minute, a cup of beer,

Twelve o’clock near

Fireworks, bullets, Happy New Years!

A brand new age for dreams and resolutions

Live by birth, die by execution

Another chance to make excessive mistakes

To gather with friends and eat cyanide cake

Celebrate, party, live for the excitement

Get fired tomorrow for SURPRISE! indictment

Weep, wallow, grovel in despair

Slice your wrists because nobody cares

Dragged away by doctors because

You’re mentally ill

In rehab because you’ve had more

Than your fill

Living in prison for doing a life

of crime

Sleeping on the streets

because you don’t have a dime

Straight A Jennifer is pregnant at sixteen,

But sadly her boyfriend doesn’t believe

In genes

Another president, a speech, a handshake,

A war

Take your money, smile for the camera, run

For the back door

Holidays, holidays, old habits die hard

Send your merry and cheer

And meaningless five dollar cards!

Cycles, cycles, they never seem to end

Grab up your pens

Here’s New Years again

A tad cynical but true! It is like a habit. Imagine if some very powerful people made some very altruistic resolutions............. I guess we have to wait til heaven for that ;-) Happy New Year
