Lesson to a Lady

By emeraldgrace

"Love m'dear"
he says, "is a lie.
Let these dreams go,
so that they may die.
Prim and proper
you must be.
A fine youg lady
for the world to see.
This romance nonsense,
it is lies, untrue!
And shall have nothing
to do with you."
I raise with grace
and fold my hands,
and tell my opinion
of his demands.
"To be a lady
sir, you have taught me thus:
To always be serving,
and never to fuss.
But I've found a man
who opens lifes gate,
and lets me decide
my own unknown fate.
His touch is soft,
his heart is strong.
I believe I know
where I belong.
For me time stops
when we doth kiss.
And if that be a lie...
then ignorance be bliss."

Ms. Grace, that was beautiful. As Phoenix mentioned below, the conclusion is killer. The subject was a little off the beaten path so it made for an enjoyable read, indeed. :::OLd

I don't think I've ever read anything following this theme. Very original and well-written. I also like the conclusion.
