Sharing Showers

Sharing Showers
She tosses off the last article
of clothing attached to her
He cracks his neck and leans
forward in anticipation
She experiments with knobs
to find the perfect temp.
He holds out his hand
and clasps at descending H2O
She steps inward
He moves forward
She’s entranced with the feel
that’s crescendoing on her skin
His breath skips as she fills
up every possible thought
She is closing her eyes
as her pores get saturated
He is soaking up the moment
as his hair curls upward
She thinks of only him
He thinks of only her
Both are drenched
She steps out of the tub
and grabs a towel
The time is 11 p.m.
He steps off the sidewalk
and turns toward his apartment
As the rain drains from the clouds
in a stark dark sky
The time is 11 p.m.
