Fall Softly

By Temerity

Softly I'm awakened by insistent hands I'm shaken from the void.
Cautiously I rise as the bliss of slumber dies, and I'm annoyed.

Dying in reverse, mumbling I curse through the pain.
Blinking, dry eyed stare, I can see you standing there without shame.

No hands help me rise, deaf ears don't hear my cries, my heart stumbles.
Consumed by your wanting ever present and undaunting, my hope crumbles.

Fall Softly, my spirit into this waking Life.
Kiss the lips of  your betrothed, your mate whose name is Strife.
