The Star Children

By Chameleon

The star children wept
in a solemn compromise
between the moon, the sun
and the stars in their eyes.

An orange horizon
encircled the earth now-
one vast desert oroface
it was all that survived...

besides the star children.

They began to rebuild
from the basements below,
into sandcastles of the dunes
under the orange rays of the sun.

They were all that survived
the great falling stars
that turned the sky orange
and the trees charcoal grey.

The star children grew
and began to paint again
the great desert landscape
back to its natural beauty
as it shined-

before man shot down the stars.

Man did succeed in destruction
of his greatest enemy-
himself.

Now in the orange glow
of earths naked remains
you can find the silhouettes
of the last of the innocents'-

Ghosts of beauty
born from death
of the machine
to live eternally

as Star Children.

Excellent! This reminds me so much of Ray Bradbury. You paint a beautiful backdrop for Armageddon. Calm and objective in its description. Did I mention: Excellent!

i like the imagery you create in this, it's really inetresting i saw a theory on discovery which said that in about half a million years from now the earth will be a gigantic dessert.
