Memories

By Dragonfly

Peppermint candy on my tongue
Pine needles on my skin
Seeing what is to come through
Wrapping paper of the present all too thin.

Seeing to the future
Through what could be a glory hole
A hole inside the pavement
A moment that I stole

Seeing in your thoughts
A process quite divine
Trying to figure out the cogs
Or memories that hang out to dry

Processing in the wind
Pictures that seem so nice
Never seeing the hidden tears
Each memory costs a price

You have payed them all too well
And each cost a pretty penny
Not in change of nickels or dimes
But something much more deadly

Each needle costs a hundred
Memories or two
Each memory costs an emotion
Either way you lose

So dance into the darkness
And up into the night
Be the angel atop my Christmas tree
Never taking flight
