I Don't Know

By Dragonfly

I don't know why
I spend so much time
Trying to color inside the lines

When like a tsunami you can wash them away
as if they never existed and would never stay
and never more than a night to lay

I don't know why
People Lie
But they do it well every time

Even when they don't they'll fade
and become like a dream as they go away
and shed no more light than a darkened ray

I don't know who
told me it was true
when i talked about you

When teardrops were for happy days
and I never had to worry if you would stay
and I knew it was my bed where you lay

I don't know when it changed
and things became terribly estranged
but they are not the illusions of those deranged

When broken glass became an unfixable thing
and even paper cuts begin to sting
and we no longer cherish our summer nights fling

I then know...
It's over.
