Hearts in the Sand

By Invisibledarkness

As I sit here on this beach,
I realize to myself,
You are the same as this heart in the sand.
Put there for a purpose,
Yet slowly washed away by the oncoming tide.
As I cry for the loss,
I begin to think...
It's not fair that no matter how many times it's washed away,
This heart can be redrawn.
But no matter how hard I try I can't bring you back.
So I sit in the sand,
Tears raining down my face,
For you and you alone.
As this heart mocks me,
Reminding me that mine can be repaired,
But never permanently recreated.
So I'll continue to draw this heart,
To pretend that mine is truly there.
