Warring

By MoonLitShadowz

The war drum beats and vultures circle
Whilst I lie in bed and yearn for blissful sleep.
My head and heart battle; each treasuring
A notion the other finds undesirable.

I thought I had found peace, a temporary truce.
Futile, now I see this war will never end.
The longer I try to enforce the flimsy veil of calm
The more I need to hide from the ever soaring shades.

Pounding drowns out all voices, save a lonely baby's cry.
The tallies must be counted, analysis of who or what remains
From my clashing sides; quickly a decision must be made, before I fall
Into a deceit that even Syn may not forgive his ever shrinking Shadow.
