The Real Me
By Invisibledarkness
Pain raining,
Like feathers falling from a broken-hearted
angel,
Hurt being hidden,
Whether from me or from
you,
I cannot decide,
Can you see the hurt past the
smile?
The broken-heart past the cheerful eyes?
Maybe
you can,
Maybe you can't.
But one day you'll see...
The real me.

We can't keep our true essence suppressed for long. That is, just the way it is. But as a defense mechanism we absolutely have to hide who we are and only share ourselves with the people we love. There are consequences for that sort of thing. Nice piece.
