Doubt

By Demosthenes

Help me?
I can't remember what I look like
Or who I am
You've always been here, haven't you?
Talking to you
Brought me such reassurance

Help me, Love?
I've long since forgotten
When it was
That I last spoke a word
Or ate
Or slept

Help me?
Please?
I don't understand
Why it is I can hardly breathe
Or why I've been hungry and tired
For six days

Help me, my Life?
My cheeks are stained
With the tears
I have no memory of shedding
My hands are red
With the blood
I have no memory of scratching

Help me, my God?
Now would be a good time
To remind me
That you exist
Because you've always been at my side before

Watching me cry.
