The Wedding Video

By lordshadow

I tossed and turned that lonely night
despite the pills that coursed my veins...
ignored the cadence of the rain
and all the tears that drained my might

I whispered softly in your ear
to match the anger in my voice
and underneath the background noise
you listened but refused to hear

We silently walked side by side
afraid to break the quiet day
despite the things we had to say
our words did fade, and then they died

I did my best to make this good...
to honor, cherish, love, and hold
but every year just grew more cold
it never felt the way it should

We blissfully walked down the aisle
unaware how this would end
that soon I'd lose my dearest friend
and never get to see you smile

We thought we'd left the world behind
with all its angst and stress and strife
we thought we'd made a better life
Now all I do is press 'rewind'
