have a great day

By DarkestOnyx

Sometimes, if we listen carefully, we can hear our time ticking away, like sand in an hourglass. Every grain of sand, every tick of the clock, pushing us further and further towards the end. Death is everywhere. It’s the creaking of a huge empty house, it’s the shadow you thought you saw moving. It is the hooded figure in your nightmares, the owl outside your window, and the graveyard raven too.And the more you run, the closer it gets, until you can feel it breathing down your neck, and that’s when you realize that your going crazy, that you already are crazy, and that’s why you know something no one else does. You realize that life ends just the way it started. ‘From dirt we were made, and to dirt we shall return.’ And you deny it. You scream that’s its unfair, that it can’t be that way. But it is, and you know it.Ask the starving orphan if life is fair. Ask the bodies, rotting unidentified in mass graves, if life is fair. It’s not, and who knows? Maybe the next person the Reaper comes to get will be you. And is life really worth living? If every single moment you fear the fall of the axe that will eventually take your life, are you really meant to go on? Because, royalty or street urchin, movie star or working class, the end is always the same. We all end up rotten, crawling with worms, until our bones finally collapse into dust. And do you think, in 20 years, anyone will remember you for making a great movie, or writing a great book? Well the truth is, when our headstones eventually fall down, who will there be to remember us? All we will be is a few anonymous corpses, rotting unknown beneath the first suffocating layers of earth. Eventually the next generation will follow, and the next, and the next, continuing on into eternity. Bodies piling atop bodies in the endless dance of death. And there isn’t anything we can do, but sit back and enjoy the ride.
