remember

By DarkestOnyx

I walk alone
It’s been a long time
All the reports have shown
He died of a broken heart.

I watched him die so visually
Now I'm all alone
All my broken misery
And I turn to face the ghosts.

All my life it smothers
Bitter wraiths
Make bait of others
We turn away

They said he went mad
They made the world tip
He was all I had
Now nothing.

I try to remember
His last words were“ In this world those we dismember
Are often the best friends we have.”

“ In this world those we kill
Are often the ones we love
And the holes they leave we fill
With a bottle; a knife; a noose; a gun.”

And I put the knifepoint to my heart
And prepare to say goodbye; I turn my eyes above
And with the jagged pieces of my broken heart
I mourn the man I love

And I cry at the bloody site
For him and all I’ve lost and the tragedy we resemble.
The blackest tears tonight
For all that I remember.

After a death we believe it is the end. We look back on their marks the people have left on us and remember them. Sometimes the pain is too hard to bare. This was a nice write. I loved the imagery.
