Portraits of inner turmoil
By Winter Born
Thin, lazer-straight lines
etched with hard unyeilding steel
In living canvas
Lines that
weep crimson tears
Pain is all they know.
Ruby- red tears
run,
To canvas edge they stampede.
Hurling themselves off.
Lemming-like they seek their end.
A mass grave; their end.
Lazer straight lines close.
Their tears have run out.
Slowly
they repair themselves
Pale scar tissue stays.
Silent
reminders
They wait for future siblings.
Eternal vigil.
Scarified
living canvas...
A portrait of pain.

A dark opening that calls for a dark closing. Dark gray, walking into invisible flames. Very good piece. +tpu+

I'm going to go with the theme being more... self mutilation... Along the lines of the gate control theory one pain overrides another... I like. :) Thank you for your poem.
