Solitary

By meadowlea

My only worth is a car
harsh words leaving a scar
more important to be with a friend
than care for mum who needs to mend

Lost and alone in the season of joy
no children to watch open a toy
Christmas meal toast and jam
no sign of pudding or ham

No clothes that fit to wear
only a sign that some people do care
phone calls from afar
from those that can’t reach me by car

So here I sit all alone
looking expectantly at my phone
what will the latest tests say
do they know what is making me waste away
