The Power of Words
By Cherry Bear
I open the book
Full of abandon words
beaming and giggly
They
know not what they are missing
I learn a new term a new way to speak
Looking about I think who am I kidding
The book is covered with
dust
The pages starting to decay
Words slipping and sadly being
replaced
Bringing a sigh from my parched lips
How can it
be that we are in this time
this place where slang is such a common
phase
We have the knowledge as poets should have
yet still there
are these brakes in communication
Some words are bad and other are
good
When there definitions are discarded
it shouldn't be that
bads replaced with gay
As poets we should, no it is requirement
That our tongues speak the correct word
With all these new
fads and expressions of self
We should defend the language if nothing
else
Cause once things get turned upside down
Then more words
are chased out
The chaos that's caused is not worth the price
To
have to whisper in public
Argue the point or correct ones own line
But I am just one and my words mean little
Since none of you
care that the words are being lost
Until perhaps one day your own
poems taken wrong
Misinterpret because of a single word
So
go and keep up, keep butchering it all
In the end you will pay
for now lI will leave you with this

Yeah someone kept using Gay as a slang for something bad, I am not gay as straight as can be, but it bugs me ya know. So yeah great inspiration huh?
