Ambrosia and Nectar

By Loneal

Regret comes a-knocking, ever so soft
With whispers enticing, temptation abounds
An internal world I roam through so oft
Come dance with me and feel how this sounds

Smooth and serene your voice coaxes me out
Your hands soothing, caressing, warm, and strong
I step closer, press tighter, befuddled with doubt
Your lips gentle and loving, singing this song

But another tune dances, more familiar to me
She's here with me now, constant, more sure
I've decided, it seems, yet you won't let me be
Your memory haunts me, in my heart you endure

Time's faded past us, but some remnants remain
This heart won't forget the pleasures – the pain
In lust and in love – conflicted, at odds
Both blessed and cursed with a gift of the gods
