Window sill (draft)
By skully
We’re fire-fighting with my mind though
It was dark its getting darker still
Looking back at moments curtains drawn
Peeping out scared, slumped at the window sill
The child within lives today he's in what I do
He’s in everything I try to say
And maybe by living back we might
Find a new place to live a safer way
But just now the needle brings the warmth
I don’t even need that safety inside
But its not all that its cracked up to be
There’s only so much space in the syringe to hide
So maybe tomorrow another cliché
But only if I find some room on the pavement tonight
Or maybe a door way any where
Just as long as it’s away from the light

Very powerful words, especially the third paragraph. The line (There’s only so much space in the syringe to hide) so honest and raw, great shock factor.

agreed....you took the basic format a step further with the potency of your lines in all their drug-taking nakedness...powerfully understated and raw indeed...excellent
