My brother Red

By meadowlea

Today we nearly lost my brother Red
Not for the first time with the life he has led
When he was 16 he played with datura juice
My father got the call your son may not make it through the night
He made but for a week he had dogs under his bed
He has crashed countless cars come out bloody but not dead
He drinks far too much booze
To help him memories to lose
But today is the best putting petrol into a running generator
Turned his shed into an incinerator
Lost his shed generators hoses to the dam and nearly his life
Hurt his head jumping out of his fire made from his own strife
It could have been so much worse just metres from his old wooden home
A few more and the whole plantation would have gone trees back to loam
40 years old and he hasn't learned
Play with fire and youre gonna get burned
Today we nearly lost brother Red
Just because he was being stupid

Lost my bother in 1989. He was a rapist, a drug addict, a thug and a violent sadist. He was a fucking monster. His death was welcomed and celebrated. Sounds harsh but people haven't walked in our shoes. Honest write. Sad situation. JD
