Mother’s Day
By meadowlea
What perfect bliss she had this year.
At last a year without a tear
All three children sent her a text message before she woke
That was before he spoke
He said I came around yesterday to tell you
They plan to ask you to loan them what is due
Your son is in trouble deep
When you visit them they will make you weep
For a few hours she had some happiness
Her kids still love her she’s not just a bank
For one day she could have something for which to thank
Her children love her no strings attached
But no he who wants her no strings attached
Couldn’t leave her alone
He had to destroy her by phone
Days later her daughter brought the gift
A betty boop clock to help her spirits lift
And the one present she got on Mother’s Day
Something she had asked for on another day
A pair of rose & skull gumboots to wear
He thinks she’s silly to wear without a care
He still doesn’t know her after twenty years of marriage
My loving sister filled with rage and courage
