Across the Crescent Sadness

By Midnight Phoenix

Across the crescent sadness
I have looked and I have seen
And all I really wished for
Was a glimpse of the sullen scene

How could I have known about the
Enchanting and mournful race
Their hypnotism pacified me
And placed a frown upon my face

Now I’m living naked
No feeling will ever touch me
A melancholy curse has melted my heart
Into puddles beneath my feet

Then the people of sadness
Chanted and fed me pain
A dark force tore at my soul
And my eyes began to rain

Clouds had formed across the sky
As they sang their words of call
I looked up to see the tears
And blood enter their sacred fall

But now I’m dying naked
And all the feeling has washed away
Still dazed and feeling guilty
I collapse into the puddle beneath my feet
