The Mist

By Kainoa

What a discovery
I must say
To find out
That i died today.

Out of the white
All dressed in black
There stood emily
I knew there was no going back.

It started
In the usual way
Up and Adam's
What Michael would say.

Stop by mom's
Along the way
Help with Lyddie
To start her day.

But today would be different
I did not know
Be extra careful
In the fog - drive slow.

I must have heard it
A thousand times
I had no idea
That it would end my life.

Out in the white
There was no black
I didn't know Emily
Or that I coundn't go back.

There were a few things
I had to learn
Into my mind
These things would burn.

Through all the good times
And the bad
God and his angels
Is what I have.

I thought that I once
Knew what that meant
God is faithful
And many angels he sent.

Going to work
The way I always do
But today would be different
Would bring something new.

A band of angels
Led the way
Drive very carefully
I heard them say.

But what was to come
What I did not know
Would change my life
And deal quite a blow.

I saw it all
Coming frame by frame
It seemed so slow
But still it came.

Out of the white
There was no black
At this very moment
There was no going back.

I had to hit it
Dead centered my truck
I cold not avoid the pole
It wasn't my luck.

The blow was harder
Than I could have known
It had to happen
Or I would not have grown.

Sitting there trying
To collect my thoughts
That were racing wildly
With the pain I fought.

Out of the white
Someone appeared
Her name was Emily
And I had no fear.

She talked me through
Tried to keep me sane
Gotta life life to the fullest
And see my family again.

She said she saw angels
streak of white before her eyes
Had to stop in the thick fog
She didn't know I would die.

She stood really still
In my field of view
She talked to me
While angels flew.

All around the scene
Of the crash
I did not realize
This breath could be my last.

There's so many things
I wanted to do
While all around me
Angels flew.

At that very moment
There was a shift in time
It hit me hard
This paradign.

In the flas of a second
I couldn't deny
God and all his glory
As my thoughts and I died.

What a discovery
I must say
To find out how
I died today.

All of my
Priorities changed
I did not know
That I couldn't think the same.

It's all new to me
And it's all good
The time had come
I finally understood.

The words
"God has a plan for you"
In that dead air
Gently blew.

And finally I saw
With spiritual eyes
Said bye for now
As I watched me die.

Out in the white
There was no black
Emily looked on
There was no going back.

Suddenly there were others
Every where
While angel mists
Flew in the air.

They pulled my body
From my wrecked truck
As it was steaming
In the water and muck.

The sky was beautiful
Chrystal blue
I was wrapped in warmth
While angels flew.

As I cried in pain
I heard God say
Now go and share
What you've learned today.

Funny how fate has a way of making us listen - sometimes subtle or sometimes menacing loud. Inspirational write.
