il sentimento e tocca ( with Sunset skittles)

By veingo

It's amazing
How you can just turn your eyes off
And I can't read your heart.
I lost the pulse in your eyelashes
You stopped blinking in my direction the moment you let go of my hand.
Beautiful doesn't describe heartache as well as hideous.

Some moments just stop me on a dime.
Like a warning signal reaching out from the past.
It has become involuntary, and necessary for my own well being.
Maybe it was something you said,
but to me it sounded of former loves falling like dominoes.

Was it falling?
Or did we confuse falling for flying?
If I sit still and listen,
for just a small moment,
I can hear what once was perfection,
humming from the mouth of the earth.
Her tongue used to lap at our toes,
making kisses on the sand.
Drawing hearts in the footprints that would just be washed away any second.
And still we lived like that second was all we had.
We never fell, we flew.
It was just too late to realize we hit a storm cloud instead of the ground,
and we let the lightening blind our feelings.

But all of my feelings are blind.
Your emotions are wings.
So beautiful and natural.
And you glide on them gracefully.
But my wings are machines manufactured from thoughts.
Please forgive my need for routine maintenance.

I never understood men.
They seem to be set on cruise control
And think they'd never falter.
Who needs an oil change
When you can change girls?
You'd never believe a woman
Could work on mechanical wings
Or diesel hearts.
They don't need to have their water changed
Because they're always flowing on the same course
And they'll never stray.

I understand that as a woman
You think it's alright to feel however it is that you feel.
But I am a man, and I'm condemed to feel the way I think that I should.

And as a man
You'd never stop by
To pick up a sea shell
And gaze at it's wonder.
Never put it to your ear
To listen to the whispers
Of fallen hearts and broken ships
Telling you to trust what you can't
Mechanically fix.
Some things are better left
To touch gracefully
Then with bitter resentment.

For you there is a landscape that bursts forth with wonderful color and light,
every time you close your eyes.
But each time you go there I'm left behind,
studying your beauty like a puzzle that's painted on both sides.

If I could close my eyes and wish stars upon your cheeks
I'd put feeling into your fingertips
And wish upon your kiss
That your heart would be in sync
To the beat of my lips.

Could you show me ballance,
and how to trust something other than mathmatical equasions?
Teach me Miss Kisskill, to follow my heart in real time, and not just a series of test runs.

If you can be patient, and forgiving,
then I think,

I think,

I think you should do the feeling for both of us.

  • A former member wrote: beautifully contrasted; must say though, ending line is completely it; 'think vs feel'. quite a conundrum...why cant men feel their way through a situation, a relationship? instead of think and tinker. .. you two played it nicely though...huzzah
