Won't Cry for Yesterday

By steuss

I won’t cry for yesterday,
Cause today I’ve found my way,
The little things, just piled up,
And are swept away,
With my broom and empty cup.

The liquor all gone,
The sup finished in crumbs,
And my eyes believe the sun,
And forget to find the numb
Cold feeling under my toes.

Cause I won’t cry for yesterday,
Find my way on my own,
And sometime I’ll sit and stay,
Wake up and make a world of stone,
Floating on an ocean of light.

Break my sole self with a bar
Or light and stone, the feelings crept
Away on clouded mind,
And the falling star of my mind,
Just fleeing from the kind of regret
I’ve left in yesterday.

I’ll not try and stay away,
Find my way home from your light,
Calling me here with you waiting at the door,
But sometimes I’ll try and look back,
Find the darkness there swelling,
As each passing day makes it less clear,
And the skies a darker shade of mourning,
Sorrow creeping in the windows,
Screaming from yesterday,
Wake the sun,
Cry out the moons,
And call out tomorrow,
Cause I’m not crying for yesterday,
And yesterday is crying for me.
