Among The Mundane & The Profane

By Temerity

I look for answers, and I find only questions.
I look for truth, and find more lies.
I look for nothing, & find it in abundance
In the land of the mundane & the profane.
I exist in this secular sector and assume the role of society's bitch.
I work, I clean, I set a clock and sleep my designated timeframe,
I pay bills, I cover my body with the acceptable portion of clothing.
I send my offspring to society's learning institution
To be brainwashed into conformity.
I'm paid for my work but give large portions to Uncle Sam and Humana,
Leaches who bleed me dry and leave me just enough life to continue giving.
I am trapped like a rat on a wheel.
I look for distraction and satisfaction in comforts; food, drink, entertainment, Possessions, personal relationships, ... all instant but temporary gratifications, All come with a price.

But there is an energy within me...the essence of me...
That knows that this is a charade.
I wait for the day when I know the answers, the truths,
And look into the thing that I've searched for
Only to find it staring back at me with perfect recognition.
I will fall to my knees and feel the power of this great truth
With the extacy of laughter, sorrow, pain,
And enlightened senses that mortal man cannot fathom.
I know that I am not unique in these ideals.
Some divert these feelings and hide them
For fear of seeming "mentally unstable",
Some find solace in religions,
Some are more comfortable in continuing to run on the wheel.
I choose to spend my days seeking knowledge.
There is much information and understanding
To be learned from the experiences and beliefs of others.
Speak to me of these things. Show me your "Soul"...
And be forewarned that I will be looking even deeper than you think.

  • A former member wrote: desiratum or another... can there be a life that does not fall to patterned living of some preconceived style found acceptable and minimally beneficial to the powers that be... to the system as it is? Nice ponderings, I share their sentiment *peers deeply
