The Seed

By asailorsangel

She stared down that long OPEN road that was laid in front of her. Today was as good as any to take that first step down it so she began to walk and she carried a little bit of you with her so she would not be lonely or scared. She thinks to herself he really does not know how strong he makes her or does he? This thought made her pause and a tear fell from her soul for all that she knows you are. That single tear landed upon a seed; which began to grow in an instant.

As today turned into tomorrow she took that same walk and each time her soul let another tear fall in that same place, the place that makes her contemplate the thought of you and all that you are to her. She thinks, “So much light surrounded by so much darkness; no wonder I lose my way at the turns on this big OPEN road that has been laid before me. The world it can seem so big it begins to make you feel so small like a pinhole on a black canvas.”

On that Seventh Day she stopped at that same spot and what stood was a beautiful flower. She sat down to have a conversation with this rose. She stared into its petals and admired the sturdy stem in which it stood upon, she asked, “When did you get here?” The rose replied, “You gave a drop of your soul every day to my seed and that sacrifice has turned me into this beautiful flower. I am full of life, full of heart, full of my own soul but now I have a piece of you. I am now yours but just to admire for if you pull me out of the ground my roots will be severed and the life will no longer exist inside. So come everyday down this path and guide me in my growth, but leave the roots for that is what makes me a rose.”

As she wondered back to the start of the road as she always does for that flower always leaves her turned around not sure what direction to go. She thought, “This is a big OPEN road and there are others who certainly are stopping to smell my rose, the one that I have poured my soul into and believed in, to help it grow. Those insects, bees and others that stop to smell and admire my rose don’t know the love that rose has for me. It hides behind its thorns and says, “I can’t help it I was put here I have roots, if I am picked by just one hand, I will have to change.”

The next walk she took the thought she pondered was this, “I should also be taking in the other scenery that this OPEN road has to offer. An OPEN road leaves so much to explore not just this one rose, it does not matter how it makes me feel inside when I am near it. Or how it reflects the future in my eyes, one rose is never enough or is it?” With this the rose replied, “What is the harm, look at how many people I let admire me it makes no difference, I have these thorns that protect me, no one will take me, go walk down this road that I have laid before you.”

She enjoys her rose and as the days pass she spends less and less time waiting for it to be with her. It causes her too much pain to see how much it enjoys the passer bys admiring, all the insects feasting on the sweetness of its petals. She can not waste her energy as much as she loves that rose, she has to walk down the OPEN road because she is not rooted into the ground, that rose has made it clear there is no room in the ground near it for her roots.

She has learned to only approach that rose when she is called upon. She has learned to only speak to the rose when it is ready to speak. To only touch and admire that rose when asked. She has learned to quiet her emotions and feelings, as the rose admires and indulges in this OPEN road. As she walked the rose said, “Hey where have you been my petals are weak, I am loosing my color.” She stood over the rose and said, “I have often wondered what it would be like to be able to just be next to you all the time.” “Like on those nights when we share ourselves when no one else is around.” “To have that intimacy in our relationship all the time, with no thorns, to be able to have my roots grow next to yours.” The rose replied, “This will stunt my growth, take away my life, do you want your world to not exist?” She says, “Take this tear, it should sustain you for awhile, it has more heart, soul and love in it than any of the others.” “WHY?” the rose asked. “Because it is the last”, she replied as she disappeared into her pinhole of light.
