Face of Death

By monalisamarie

“The earth crumbles under your struggling feet
In the light of the pale stars,
Unseen fingertips on your skin, so sweet,
My pulse beats within your heart”

Top a broken wall I stand,
See the valley of Death, so long.
While a silent voice calls me in,
I am a stranger in this land, stranded.

Aye I don’t care to live any longer,
As I wander through life, nameless.
The face of Death, so somber
Bears herself, shameless

The nameless are not forgotten, my friend

The wind carries sand into my wounds,
From the whip flayed across pale back,
Tongue bitter with the blood of the moon
Lips metallic and sticky and craked

Entrenched in my mind, so deep,
A love so long ago emanated
A voice whispers a melody sweet
Of how long I have waited

But I don’t care to live any longer.
As I wander through life, nameless.
The face of Death, so somber
Bears herself shameless

A silent voice is calling us in
And the nameless are not forgotten, my friend
