Bad Days

By Lord Kalgalath

Waking to silent sheets and crimson kisses that linger from my dreams....
I walk out, see the sunlight slant through the window as I drink my tea.
I draw a deep breath, let out a sigh....
Life, they say.. is a play, the world a stage, and we, the humble actors.
How true that seems to me now, as though I have slipped headlong into some role
And lost the 'real' me in the process.
I walk through the day, feeling as though I am living out some tragedy
As though I were part of a story, about star-crossed lovers
Like that Knight Mimbrate of the Belgariad, I see my love, and she sees me
We dance, words crisscrossing,
Caressing in ways that we dare not do when we are together
for while she cares for me, so too does she care fore him....

Ah.. such bittersweet feeling.
To know that what you long for is within your grasp,
But being unable to close your hand.
Unable to cleave it to you,
But holding on fiercely,
For fear that it will vanish.

And when you lay down, in your cold, empty bed, you take it out,
Knowing it cannot be yours, and gaze upon it...
Dreaming of what could be, and if only, before, tear in each eye,
Unshed for those hopes which you know will never come true,
You drift to sleep... and in your dreams, at last...
That which you clasp so tight by day
can be yours

+The title of this poem is taken from a song by The Flaming Lips+
If you have heard the song you know why I chose its title.
If you haven't it is the song from Batman forever, when Jim Carrey returns to his apartment.
