Despair

By Crimson Shade

The massive architecture of the iron custodians was forbidding,
Bathed in a silvery illumination that honed their barbarism,
Blinded, I fell alone, and as the custodians whined,
I left the natural world and entered despair.

Frames Bent, people shamble up and down like metaphysical agents,
Their gaunt faces peer into the shadows, disturbing the quiet calm.
Spiritual terrors unknown lye in wait, lurking in the shadows,
Where the eternal war rages between light and darkness.

You are engulfed by the sea of nightmares the wind has created,
The taint of death intermingles with you,
Forcing your mind further into the supernatural realm,
Mind broken and body beaten you return

You stumble, your senses taking their toll upon you,
You wonder past the ever-whining custodians and exit,
Despair left behind but scars taken,
The knelling bells impressing upon you the irremovable stain of fear.
