Life

By MidSummers Eve

What is life?
Chaos
Nothing more, nothing less
Life is survival, life is death
A never ending cycle of imprisonment.
Freedom,
A lie, created by our subconsious,
In order to give us hope and fight for life.
Survival,
A pointless endeavor
All life begins with death, and so shall it end,
To claim otherwise is foolish,
To grasp for immorality is pointless,
Those who do are cowards.
Hope,
A preprogrammed state of mind
A mental grasping at straws
In a pitiful attempt at avoiding the inevitable.
Truth,
What is truth?
In this modern world truth is itself a lie
Truth is a thing that has been beaten and warped,
Twisted into a form that is no longer recognizable
Not even by those who are sworn by it.
Emotion,
Chemicals in our blood that control our actions
And enslave our souls
Our minds
Our passions
So what is Life?
An attempt at survival
That was doomed from the start
There can't be life without death
There can't be death without life
Strive for life, live with death
That is your only option

Very true. You broke down some concepts that seem very large to their simplest of forms. The last two lines drove the message home nicely. Nice job :p

You are so right. People should find comfort in death... after all it is inevitable.
