Photographic Memories
By PaperPromises
She stares at the little girl in the photograph
All full of pigtails, giggles, and laughs
She recalls the love and happiness held in those eyes
Before age and confusion took over with lies.
A solitary moment of happiness captured inside
One simple colored print from a long last pasttime
A visible smile that had come so easily
Now remains tucked with a frown and buried deep.
The past has coroded; there is nothing left
Covered with sadness and the pain of death
Not only of the loved ones she was forced to watch go
But also of that little girl and the happiness she used to know..

It's amazing how looking back on our lives can make us feel such pain, either for losses in the past, or for what we thought we gained in the present.

Old photographs always bring back a rush of memories, I like looking at my eyes through stages in my life, they reveal more than the picture.
