Desert In My Eyes...
By Zhee
i crawl along the water's edge
to wash away the pain,
as the jaggedness pours
like crucifying rain,
now the sun scorches
as this spirit slowly dies -
for the million storms
have left
-
a desert
in
my
eyes
...
watching the mutated faces
that swallow me whole,
while i lament and bury
the children of my soul,
in this barren land
my blood slowly dries -
for the rains of long ago
have left
-
a desert
in
my
eyes
...
all that was aspired
was crushed in shackled fists,
now a river flows down
these numb, splintered wrists,
the scars will remain
a testament to the skies -
whose bloody tears
have left
-
a desert
in
my
eyes
...
~my thoughts are stained with that blood...
my dreams are born from those wounds...~

loss and agony punishing yourself as if you'd thrown something away. an injustice here, taking responsibility for that which you can't control, something beyond your strength, yet not a weakness. Reading a lot into this, I know. Great write

this is exquisitely done--the images, flow, and structure are so on point--I really feel what you are expressing here
