Set Me Free

By Midnight Shadow

I walk the roads endlessly,
My wrists and ankles in shackles.
I fall down, tired and weak.
*kick* Get up, you stupid, worthless bitch!
Bruised and beaten, I slowly climb to my feet.
You poke a spear in my side,
Reminding me of your presence.
I look up and see it ahead...
The city at which I'll be sold.
We arrive, I get shoved in a cage.
Crowds pass by, thousands of people staring,
Where is the face of hope now?
Moving now, I am placed to be bid upon.
I see him in the many faces,
His brown eyes gazing up at me with wonder.
We recognize each other right away,
Lovers from a past lifetime.
I hold out my hand to you,
Yet your touch is just out of reach.
The guards see me and laugh.
Then I feel a sharp pain in the back of my head.
My last words before I slump to the floor,
"Set me free my love..."
Darkness...
Did you make the final bid?
