Slowly Fading

By TornPaperDoll

Daddy cries for mommy
And she doesn’t seem to care
Daddy asks her questions
About why she’s never here

Daddy waits up late
For mommy to come home
Daddy gets real worried
And sits close by the phone

Daddy yells at mommy
And mommy yells back too
Daddy feels she’s slipping
And I think she’s slipping too

Daddy searches her drawers
For things that are real bad
And when he finally finds them
It makes him really sad

Daddy gets real angry
And pretends that nothing’s wrong
And mommy told me once
She didn’t feel she belonged

Daddy talks about leaving
And starting a new life for him
But he couldn’t ever leave us
Because it would be his biggest sin

Daddy holds us tight
When mommy makes us cry
And gets a little shaky
When we ask him “why?”

Daddy’s trying real hard
To make it through each day
But our love for one another
Is slowly fading away...

I always seem to have problems with writing the ending of a poem. You pull it off effortlessly.

I very much agree with morbid on this one, this piece shows so much sorrow and tragedy in a surprizingly beautiful way, Bravo *Applauds* ~Emptyness~
