Pleading for an Answer

By Anaelle

I lay awake alone in bed
Concious of the fire that touches my skin
Breathing in the stale air of my room
My eyes searching vainly for something
Something - an answer
An answer to a question I hold within me
My breath comes in uncanning slow rasps
As my skin continues to burn
Burning for his touch
My ears become sensitive to every movement
Hoping to hear an answer
To a question not yet known
Heart beats pound loudly in my chest
Making me clearly aware of my own mortality
Limiting the time I have on earth
But still I do nothing
Seeking a free answer -
An easy way out
From laying alone in my bed

"Making me clearly aware of my own mortality Limiting the time I have on earth But still I do nothing Seeking a free answer" - I feel the conviction of those words. Lovely piece! Ciao, T/S Scholar
